Hikoi for Hakas takes the traditional walkathon fundraiser and applies the same theory to a half marathon. The 21kms starts and ends at the Westhaven Marina and takes in the sights and sounds of the Auckland viaduct and waterfront heading out to Mission Bay and back again. The event aims to raise $10,000 to allow us to continue educating and sharing te reo Maori, it's culture and heritage to the world. If you wish to donate to our cause simply find a champion to donate to below, or become a champion yourself and join us on the day.
Nga Manu Matui Charitable Trust was established with the purpose of encouraging the growth and education of te reo Maori, it's culture and heritage for all ages through the medium of kapahaka. Our objectives in doing so are to; whakapakari te hinengaro - strengthen the mind, whakapakari te tinana - strengthen the body and whakapakari te wairua - strengthen the spirit through our core values of Tika-meaning that which is right, pono-meaning that which is true, Ora-meaning that which we are accountable for and Aroha-meaning that which we love unconditionally.
